Cricket Portfolio Index: The End Of Specialists

The first Test match took place in 1877. Could the latest Test matches between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh as well as England and Sri Lanka be the sign of a fluid team formation? The reason I have to start considering this is the formation of the Test XI. As an example; Jos Buttler has not been able to make it into the Test XI despite being the second best batsmen in my ranking. I have not taken a decision on this but it is something that I will consider.

The rankings are below as of the end of the second test between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. The start of the second Test between Sri Lanka and England has been factored in. The points of Sri Lanka has reduced mainly due to Chandimal being out because of an injury and Herath retiring.

As anticipated Bangladesh and Zimbabwe have gone past Australia and South Africa. Looking at the schedule; I expect India to extend their lead. England’s tour of West Indies would determine the second and third place.

The top players are below.

Batsmen

Mushfiqur Rahim has broken into the table. There is no other movement in the list.

Bowlers

Taijul Islam bowled extremely well and this has reflected in his ratings.

Total Scores

There has been no change at the top of the leaderboard.

Test XI

Dilruwan Perera replaced Jadeja as the off-spinner in the side. Taijul Islam has bowled better than Ashwin. However, Ashwin’s success with the bat helps him to retain his place in the side.
